title: "Configuring Notifications"
description: "Choose which Slack channel receives notifications from your agent, and the situations that should send one."
---

:::note[Plan]
Available on the **Starter** plan and above.
:::

Slack notifications are sent by the **Slack Notification** action. Once [Slack is connected](/docs/integrations/slack/connecting-slack), add the action to your agent.

1. **Add the action**

    In your agent, go to **Build** > **Actions**, select **Create action**, and choose **Slack Notification**.

2. **Choose the channel**

    Under **Slack channel**, select where notifications go. Only channels Chatvox has joined are listed. If yours is missing, invite Chatvox with `/invite @Chatvox` and refresh the list.

3. **Describe when to notify**

    Under **When to notify**, describe the situations that should send a message.

4. **Save and test**

    Save the action, then try a matching conversation in the [Playground](/docs/agents/playground) and check your channel.

## What the message contains

The agent writes a short summary of what happened, such as who the visitor is and what they need, and posts it to the channel.

## Example conditions

| Goal | When to notify |
| --- | --- |
| New leads | "When a visitor shares their contact details or asks for a quote or demo." |
| Urgent issues | "When a visitor reports something broken, a payment problem, or a security concern." |
| Unhappy customers | "When a visitor is frustrated or asks to cancel." |

## Channels

Slack notifications can run on the **Web widget** and **Public chat**.

## Tips

- Use a dedicated channel, such as `#chatvox-alerts`, so notifications don't get lost.
- Keep conditions specific. Too many notifications and your team will start ignoring them.
