title: Introduction to Chatvox
description: What Chatvox is, how agents, knowledge, and deployments fit together, and where to go next in these docs.
---

Chatvox is a platform for building and deploying AI agents. An agent learns from your content, answers your customers in conversation, and can take actions such as collecting a lead or notifying your team.

## How Chatvox fits together

1. **Your team**

Everything in Chatvox belongs to a **team**: your agents, your billing plan, and your credits. You can invite teammates and give each one a [role](/docs/account-and-teams/roles-and-permissions).

2. **Agents**

An **agent** is an AI assistant with a name, instructions, and an AI model. Each team can have several agents, for example one for support and one for sales.

3. **Knowledge**

**Knowledge sources** are what your agent learns from: your website, sitemaps, files, text, and question-and-answer pairs. Your agent uses them to answer questions about your business.

4. **Deployments**

**Deployments** are the channels where customers talk to your agent: a [web widget](/docs/deployments/web-widget/installation) on your site, a [public chat](/docs/deployments/public-chat/general-settings) page, or [WhatsApp](/docs/deployments/whatsapp/connecting-whatsapp).

On top of that, you can give your agent [actions](/docs/actions) to collect leads, search the web, send Slack notifications, or call your own API, and turn on [human handoff](/docs/human-handoff) so your team can step into a conversation.
