title: "Installation"
description: "Add the Chatvox chat widget to your website with a single script tag, on any platform that lets you edit your site's HTML."
---

The web widget is a chat bubble that sits in the corner of your website. Visitors click it to talk to your agent.

## Get your install script

1. **Open the widget settings**

    In your agent, go to **Deploy** and select **Web Widget**.

2. **Copy the script**

    Under **Install Widget**, select **Copy script**. The script looks like this:

    ```html
    <script src="https://my.chatvox.co/embed.js" data-agent-id="<your-agent-id>"></script>
    ```

3. **Add it to your site**

    Paste the script just before the closing `</body>` tag on your website. To show the widget on every page, add it to your site's shared template or footer.

4. **Publish and check**

    Publish your site and refresh the page. The chat bubble appears in the corner you chose in [Appearance](/docs/deployments/web-widget/appearance).

:::note
The widget only appears while the **Web Widget** channel is turned on in **Deploy**. Publishing your agent turns it on.

## Platform tips

**WordPress**

Install the free [Chatvox plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/chatvox/) from **Plugins → Add New Plugin**, activate it, then paste your [Agent ID](#agent-id) into the plugin's settings and save. No code needed.

You can also paste the script into your theme's footer settings, or use a plugin that adds code to the footer, such as WPCode.

**Shopify**

In **Online Store → Themes → Edit code**, open `theme.liquid` and paste the script just before `</body>`.

**Webflow**

In **Site settings → Custom code**, paste the script into **Footer code** and publish your site.

**Single-page apps (React, Vue, Next.js)**

Add the script once to your root HTML template, not inside a component, so it loads one time per page load.

## Agent ID

The `data-agent-id` value identifies which agent the widget talks to. Select **Copy Agent ID** if you need it on its own, for example when sharing it with a developer.

## Troubleshooting

- **The bubble doesn't appear.** Check that the **Web Widget** channel is turned on in **Deploy**, and that the script is on the page you're viewing.
- **It works on one site but not another.** If you set [Allowed embed domains](/docs/deployments/web-widget/behavior#allowed-embed-domains), the widget only loads on those domains. Add the missing domain, or leave the list empty to allow every site.
- **Changes don't show up.** Save your settings, then do a full refresh of your site.
