title: "Creating and managing agents"
description: "Create, open, and delete agents in your team, and find your way around an agent's pages."
---

An **agent** is an AI assistant that belongs to your team. Each agent has its own instructions, knowledge, deployments, leads, and settings. You might have one agent for customer support and another for sales.

## Create an agent

1. **Open Agents**

    Select **Agents** in the sidebar.

2. **Start a new agent**

    Select **New Agent**.

3. **Complete setup**

Add knowledge, set the identity and appearance, then publish. See [Create Your First Agent](/docs/getting-started/create-your-first-agent) for each step.

### Agent limits

The number of agents you can create depends on your plan. When you reach it, the **Agents** page shows **Agent limit reached**. To create more, upgrade your plan or add extra agents as an add-on. See [Plans and Pricing](/docs/billing/plans-and-pricing).

## Inside an agent

Select an agent and select **Open** to manage it. Its sidebar has these pages. Select **Activity** or **Build** to open or close that group:

| Page | What it's for |
| --- | --- |
| **Overview** | Usage, deployments, recent conversations, and anything that needs attention. |
| **Playground** | Test the agent. See [Playground](/docs/agents/playground). |
| **Activity** > **Logs** | Every conversation the agent has had. See [Managing Conversations](/docs/human-handoff/managing-conversations). |
| **Activity** > **Analytics** | How the agent is performing. See [Agent Analytics](/docs/analytics/agent-analytics). |
| **Build** > **Knowledge** | What the agent learns from. See [Knowledge](/docs/knowledge). |
| **Activity** > **Leads** | Contact details collected in conversations. See [Managing Leads](/docs/leads-and-contacts/managing-leads). |
| **Activity** > **Contacts** | People who've talked to the agent. See [Managing Contacts](/docs/leads-and-contacts/managing-contacts). |
| **Build** > **Integrations** | Connections to other tools, such as Slack. See [Integrations](/docs/integrations). |
| **Build** > **Actions** | Things the agent can do, such as collect leads. See [Actions](/docs/actions). |
| **Build** > **Widgets** | Interactive cards shown by Custom API actions or a widget’s **When to show** condition. See [Widgets](/docs/widgets). |
| **Build** > **API connections** | Shared API endpoints and credentials for Custom API actions and widget functions. See [API connections](/docs/agents/api-connections). |
| **Deploy** | Where customers reach the agent. See [Deployments](/docs/deployments). |
| **Settings** | Name, model, instructions, training, and security. See [Agent Settings](/docs/agents/settings). |

## The Overview page

**Overview** is the agent's home page. It shows:

- **Deployments**: which channels are on.
- **Usage**: conversations, messages, and positive and negative feedback.
- **Recent activity**: the latest conversations. Select **View logs** to see them all.
- **Needs attention**: feedback, knowledge sources, and tickets to review.

## Delete an agent

Deleting an agent permanently removes it and everything that belongs to it, including its knowledge, conversations, and leads. It can't be undone.

1. **Open the danger zone**

In the agent, go to **Settings**. Under **Danger zone**, select **Delete Agent**.

2. **Confirm**

Type **Delete** in the **Confirmation** field and confirm.

You can also delete an agent from the **Agents** page by selecting **Delete** next to it.

:::tip
To clear an agent's history but keep the agent, use **Delete conversations** in the **Danger zone** instead.
