title: "Slack Notifications"
description: "Send a message to a Slack channel when something important happens in a conversation, such as a new lead or an urgent issue."
---

:::note[Plan]
Actions are available on the **Starter** plan and above.
:::

**Slack Notification** posts a message to a Slack channel when a conversation matches your condition, so your team can follow up quickly.

This action needs the Slack integration. If you haven't connected Slack yet, see [Connecting Slack](/docs/integrations/slack/connecting-slack).

## Set it up

1. **Invite Chatvox to a channel**

    In Slack, open the channel you want to use and type `/invite @Chatvox`. Only channels Chatvox has joined can be selected.

2. **Add the action**

    In your agent, go to **Build** > **Actions**, select **Create action**, and choose **Slack Notification**.

3. **Choose the channel**

    Under **Slack channel**, select the channel. If it's not listed, invite Chatvox to it and refresh the list.

4. **Describe when to notify**

    Under **When to notify**, describe the situations that should send a message.

For example:

> Notify the team when a visitor asks for human follow-up, reports an urgent issue, or when a new lead needs immediate attention.

## Channels

Slack notifications can run on the **Web widget** and **Public Chat**. They don't run on WhatsApp or in [API conversations](/docs/developers/agents-and-chat). See [Where actions run](/docs/actions#where-actions-run).

## Troubleshooting

If the action says Chatvox no longer has access to the channel, Chatvox was removed from it. Invite it again with `/invite @Chatvox`, refresh the channel list, and select the channel again. See [Slack troubleshooting](/docs/integrations/slack/troubleshooting).
